Alice F. Watts
Alice is a PhD researcher in the Trinity Geospatial and Environmental Modelling (T-GEM) group at Trinity College Dublin, supervised by Dr John Connolly. Her research focuses on understanding the condition and degradation of blanket bogs using high-resolution remote sensing imagery. This work forms part of the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water, contributing to Platform 2.5 on the multi-scale assessment of upland natural capital.
Alice holds an MSc from McGill University in Montreal, where her research examined carbon emissions from managed peatlands and how land management practices influence progress towards emissions targets. She also has a BSc in Geography from the University of Exeter.
Her research interests include peatlands, land use and land-use change, environmental degradation and restoration, remote sensing and GIS, and the role of environmental policy in supporting sustainable land management.
