Claire Walsh

Professor Claire Walsh is Director of Civil and Geospatial Engineering at Newcastle University and Director of Newcastle University’s Centre for Water. Her research takes an interdisciplinary approach to tackle water security; to understand and quantify integrated water risks, design and evaluate resilient interventions, while maintaining sensitive approaches to place-specific environments and infrastructure. Her research supports engineers and city-planners to quantify risks and provide evidence for alternative solutions, including green infrastructure and water-sensitive planning and design; and communities, to understand how behaviour change can reduce health-related risks linked to water quality, supported by communication tools.
