Hazel Craven

Hazel is a PhD student in the Buckley Lab at Trinity College Dublin, where her research focuses on how biodiversity is changing and how ecosystems respond to multiple pressures such as climate change and land-use change.

Hazel’s PhD aims to deliver forward-looking evidence for biodiversity conservation and restoration in Ireland by taking an integrated, multi-scale approach – ranging from trends in pollinator populations to trait-based analyses that explore how ecological roles may shift under future climate conditions.

Across these strands, Hazel is interested in using data-driven approaches to understand biodiversity change and provide evidence to guide conservation policy and restoration planning. Her work supports Ireland’s biodiversity and climate commitments while helping to safeguard the resilience of ecosystems and the services they provide to society.
