Jamie Hannaford
Jamie Hannaford is a Principal Hydrologist at UKCEH with over 20 years’ experience researching hydro-climatic variability and change. He is also a Visiting Associate Professor at the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Units (ICARUS) at Maynooth University.
He is the scientific lead for UKCEH’s National Capability water monitoring within the UK-SCAPE programme, including leadership of the UK National River Flow Archive and the UK Hydrological Outlook, which provides seasonal hydrological forecasts. He also contributes to the National Hydrological Monitoring Programme, assessing current conditions and long-term change.
Jamie leads major UK and international research on floods, droughts, and water availability, including roles in HydroJULES, CANARI, and national hydrological projection initiatives. He has chaired and led large UKRI-funded drought programmes and currently leads international adaptation and drought research across Europe and Asia, including the ROBIN global hydrological monitoring initiative.
