Martin Mullins
Martin Mullins is the Director of the Centre for Emerging Risk, Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, a Professor in Risk and Insurance, a Funded Investigator for Lero (Research Ireland Centre for Software) and has been a member of the Expert Group on Digital Ethics in Insurance for EIOPA.[1]
More recently, he worked with the Central Bank of Ireland as a data ethicist. Professor Mullins teaches financial regulation at Masters level and lectures on the philosophy of science to doctoral students at UL. He has worked on a number of risk governance related research projects, including 8 EU Commission funded projects in the areas of emerging technologies, risk transfer and climate change adaption.
In 2024 Professor Mullins produced a set of recommendations for the European policy makers on the use of AI driven tools by law enforcement agencies. Recent publications include; Sheehan, B., Mullins, M., Shannon, D. and McCullagh, O., 2023.
