Raymond Flynn

Raymond Flynn is a hydrogeologist with over 35 years of professional and academic experience. His research focuses on the hydrological cycle and the critical role of groundwater in supporting human health and ecosystems. Dr. Flynn’s work integrates methods from across environmental science, geology and engineering to improve understanding of hydrological processes, from sustaining wetland and aquatic ecosystems to tracking the movement of pathogenic microorganisms and their impacts on human health.

He has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers and regularly applies his research to inform environmental policy and practice. Raymond is also an experienced educator, teaching engineering geology and hydrogeology, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, ethics and the responsibility of engineers to society. He supervises research from undergraduate to PhD level and brings extensive field experience into his teaching. In addition, he has acted as an external consultant on projects including wetland hydrological surveys, geophysical logging, and chairing public inquiries related to environmental impacts.
