Event Programme

An opportunity to arrive, settle in, and begin informal networking.

  • Introduction of the purpose and structure of the Synergy Day and the upcoming 3 day training programme.
  • Synergy Projects—what they are, how they work, and why they matter for Climate + Co-Centre collaboration.
  • Identify key themes of shared interest across Climate +.
  • Prioritise themes for early career researchers (ECRs) to explore during the following 3 day training programme.

  • See the full range of research currently underway across the Climate + Co-Centre.
  • Spot potential synergy opportunities across disciplines, methods, datasets, and thematic areas

Intention: Themes drawn from pre-meeting survey feedback and the Synergy Board

Activity:

  • 10 mins: Introductions
  • 10 mins: Review and reflect on survey results for your table’s theme
  • 25 mins: Pitch and explore potential areas for deeper investigation

Outcome: Each table identifies up to three potential pitch ideas, suitable for developmentinto a policy brief, working synthesis, or exploratory topic.

Networking & informal discussions

Activity:

  • Groups refine their three selected concepts into 2minute pitch summaries.
  • Presentation of 15 pitches (3 from each of the 5 roundtables).
  • Group voting to select the final four priority topics for the skills training phase.

Outcome: A clear, collaborative selection of the four most strategic and compelling areas for exploration over the coming days

Coffee and informal networking

Activity:

  • ECRs self-organise into four working groups based on the selected topics.
  • Groups confirm focus areas, begin early scoping, and prepare for the three day training programme.

Outcome: Four fully formed working groups leave with a defined topic, agreed focus, and an initial plan, ready to begin structured collaboration during the 3day training programme
