As part of University Mental Health Day, Queen’s Sport, in partnership with QUBeWell, is excited to launch Find Your Movement, a university-wide campaign designed to inspire students and staff to stay active in ways that suit them best.
Launching on Thursday 13 March, this eight-week campaign will feature a new video each week, showcasing a variety of accessible and enjoyable movement activities, including gardening, yoga, and walking.
Whether you’re looking to try something new or simply stay active, there’s something for everyone!

Ahead of the Easter break (18 April to 27 April inclusive), the cut-off date for all information to be included in April's pay run is Friday 4 April 2025 at 5.00pm.
Relocation Claims
Staff are asked to submit relocation claims by close of business on Friday 21 March, to ensure processing and inclusion in April 2025 salaries.

Staff should note the following Accounts Payable arrangements over the Easter holiday period for paying authorised Supplier Invoices, Request for Payment and Staff Expenses Claims:
- Invoices received by 5.00pm on Wednesday 9 April 2025 and Requests for Payment or Staff Expenses Claims received by 12.00pm on Thursday 10 April 2025 will be paid by Thursday 17 April 2025;
- Invoices received after 5.00pm on Wednesday 9 April 2025 and Requests for Payment or Staff Expenses Claims received after 12.00pm on Thursday 10 April 2025, but received before 5.00pm on Tuesday 15 April 2025 will be paid by Friday 2 May;
- All Invoices, RFPs and Staff expenses received after 5.00pm on Tuesday 15 April 2025 will be paid by Friday 9 May;
- Normal payment arrangements apply for invoices, RFPs and Staff expenses received week commencing 28 April.
Whilst Accounts Payable will make every effort to comply with this timetable, due to the volume of payment requests received at this time of the year and to ensure payment before the holiday, staff are requested to process all such transactions well in advance of these deadlines.

The annual training for Chairs and members of Boards of Examiners, and School staff involved in supporting Boards of Examiners, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 2 April.
This session will provide training on the academic regulatory framework for Boards of Examiners for 2024-25 to enable colleagues to make confident and robust decisions, in line with the University's Study Regulations.
The session will be delivered by the Quality Assurance and Regulations Team in Academic Affairs, hosted via Microsoft Teams, and is open to all relevant School staff. The session will be recorded so it can be made available to staff who are unable to attend on the scheduled date.
Completion of the training is mandatory for all Chairs of Boards of Examiners on an annual basis.

Queen's Active Travel Survey has been extended until Friday 14 March, and the Sustainability Team would like to hear from all staff and students on how you travel to work. Respondents will be in with a chance to win one of several prizes, including two Enterprise Plus First-Class Monthly Return Tickets for Belfast to Dublin, a £40 restaurant meal voucher for Deanes at Queen's, and a £50 voucher from McConvey Cycles.
Anyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw.

The Staff and Student Travel Survey will help identify any changes in travel patterns since the last travel survey. No matter how you get to work, we need you to tell us about your journey – do you walk, take the bus, train, or cycle.

Staff in formal or informal leadership roles are invited to register now for the next series of three 'Leading Live' stand-alone, short breakfast events, giving leaders the opportunity to share experience and knowledge through conversation. These events will take place on Thursday 3 April, Wednesday 2 July and Wednesday 1 October.

Leading Live takes place from 9.30am to 11.00am, with breakfast available from 9.15am. The venue, based on Queen's main campus, will be confirmed following registration. Please note this event is capped at 40 participants.
- Thursday 3 April – Theme: 'The role of Self-Awareness in Leadership - why does it matter?'
- Wednesday 2 July – Theme: 'The significance of understanding others - how important is this for leaders in developing relationships?'
- Wednesday 1 October – The theme for this date will build on the previous two sessions and so will be agreed and communicated in July.

In the ever changing world that we now work in, how do you practice and demonstrate effective leadership?
Recent research (Hybrid Higher, Advance HE, June 2021) shows that an effective way for leaders and managers to learn and develop in challenging times is to create time and space to think about and share experience through conversation.
With some light touch facilitation by Dr Louise O’Meara (Clinton Leadership Institute), Queen's 'Leading Live' events focus on fostering collaboration, sharing experiences and deepening knowledge through conversation and discussion.

About the Speakers
In 2005, Professor Gina Green, San Diego, USA, received her Honorary Doctorate from Queen's University Belfast for pioneering work in autism. She was instrumental in establishing the Centre for Behaviour Analysis at Queen’s and has been an avid advocate and great supporter over the past 20 years.
Dr Paul Gavoni, from the Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) will discuss his innovative concept of Adaptive Intelligence in the context of Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM) and education.

Presented as part of International Women’s Day, the University’s 180th anniversary celebrations and Queen’s Gender Initiative’s 25th year, IN GOOD COMPANY: Portraits of Queen’s Women, is a collaboration between the Naughton Gallery and Queen’s Gender Initiative celebrates the vital and diverse contributions of women at Queen’s University Belfast.
This landmark exhibition runs until Sunday 23 March. The Naughton Gallery is open daily, from 11.00am to 4.00pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The Naughton Gallery's popular Silversmithing workshop series returns on Saturday 12 April from 10.00am to 4.00pm in the Newark Room, Lanyon Building (South).

Under the guidance of goldsmith Diane Lyness, each participant will be taught traditional jewellery-making techniques such as piercing, soldering, shaping, texturing, and polishing, to create a beautiful silver pendant necklace or earrings to take home.

Jisc Report: How to Approach Digital Transformation in Higher Education
Jisc’s newly published report highlights the key success factors for digital transformation, drawing on insights from universities, including Queen’s. The findings demonstrate how institutions can integrate digital technologies, such as AI, to enhance teaching, learning, and strategic planning.
