Donations can also be about providing resources, and the largest-ever in-kind donation from US software company Alteryx has done just that. Valued at $15 million, the substantial contribution provided 3,000 data analytics licenses to students and staff, enriching the learning experience across various disciplines and equipping students with highly sought-after practical skills in today's data-driven job market. This access enhances academic learning and increases employability as students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software.
Building on this foundation, over 100 students participated in a Datathon as part of the Global Innovation Summit, using Alteryx software to tackle complex sustainability challenges facing Northern Ireland.
The Datathon provided a platform for students to work in teams to apply their data analytics skills in real-world scenarios, fostering innovation and collaborative problem-solving.
"This was my first-ever Datathon, and what an unforgettable experience it has been. The competition was tough, but the process was incredibly rewarding. Our project focused on enhancing healthcare in Northern Ireland through mobile health solutions, aiming to improve accessibility in underserved communities." AMY HANNON
