Venkatesh Kannan

Venkatesh Kannan is the Associate Director at the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC), Ireland’s national centre for high-performance computing (HPC) and data management. ICHEC provides advanced computing and data services to academic, enterprise, and public sector organisations across Ireland.

In his role, Venkatesh leads the vision, strategy, and development of ICHEC’s technological platforms and services, including HPC systems, federated data platforms, and advanced computational tools. He works closely with national and international partners to deliver innovative solutions in areas such as environmental science, climate informatics, remote sensing, health informatics, materials and manufacturing, and digital twin technologies.

His work also focuses on emerging technologies including scalable AI, quantum-HPC integration, digital twins, and data spaces, applying these tools to address complex challenges across multiple disciplines. Venkatesh represents ICHEC in a wide range of national, European, and international initiatives, helping to shape the future of high-performance computing and data science in Ireland and beyond.
