Our People
Peter Doran
Peter Doran works at the intersection of policy and research at local, regional and international levels. His work focuses on the Rights of Nature, the Commons, the Wellbeing Economy and the Attention Economy, with an emphasis on rethinking economic and governance systems to support ecological and social wellbeing.
His current interests include the recovery of Lough Neagh, which he frames as unfinished business of the Anglo-Irish peace process; efforts to bring the 2027 Degrowth International Conference to Ireland; and a collaboration with Field Day exploring the relationships between language, ecology and coloniality on the island of Ireland. As part of this collaboration, Peter is preparing a collection of essays in response to Amitav Ghosh’s 2024 Seamus Deane–Field Day Lecture, due for publication in 2026.
Peter is also involved with the Wellbeing Economy Alliance in Ireland, contributing to work that advances alternative economic models centred on human and ecological wellbeing.
He welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD candidates interested in the Rights of Nature, law and the commons, and the wellbeing economy.
