About us

The Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water addresses some of the most urgent challenges of our time: climate change, biodiversity loss and water quality decline. We work across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain to research solutions for preventing and living with climate change, protecting and restoring ecosystems, developing sustainable economies and improving quality of life for all.

Our Centre

The Climate + Co-Centre brings together 14 leading research organisations from Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain. One university in each region hosts the Centre: Trinity College Dublin, Queen’s University Belfast, and the University of Reading.

Our team consists of over 100 researchers from various academic disciplines, including physical, biological, computational, and social sciences. Together, we produce world-class research, provide evidence to support policy decisions and create innovative solutions for businesses.

Our Approach

We want our research to make a difference. It should be open, fair and inclusive. We do this by:
  • Working across borders and islands

Climate change, biodiversity loss, and water pollution don’t stop at borders and neither do we.

  • Bringing different people and fields together

We work across many areas and sectors to understand problems from all sides and turn research into real solutions.

  • Focusing on solutions

We aim to create real-world solutions that help communities, support educators, guide policy, and work for businesses.

  • Making fairness and inclusion a priority

We are committed to fairness and inclusion throughout our research. We engage with a broad range of people and communities to ensure that our work is relevant, respectful, and responsive to different perspectives.
