James Moran
Dr. James Moran is a Senior Lecturer in Biology and Ecology at the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Atlantic Technological University, and a Principal Investigator at the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water. He co-leads Platform 3 – Enabling Fair Transformations – and serves as Co-Director of the Co-Centre’s Policy Response Unit.
With over 25 years of experience in applied ecology and agri-environmental management, James focuses on sustainable land use and agricultural systems, aiming to improve agri-environmental policy and practice within integrated land use frameworks. His work spans national and international collaborations, including EU LIFE Projects, the design of agri-environment schemes across Ireland, the UK and Europe, and projects on farmland and forestry systems for biodiversity. He also works with European Innovation Partnership Operational Groups across Ireland.
James has served as an advisor to the Citizens’ Assembly on Biodiversity Loss in Ireland, the EU Young Citizens Assembly on Pollinators, and is a board member of the National Biodiversity Data Centre. He is also an executive committee member of the Farming for Nature initiative.
