Markus Peter Eichhorn

Markus Eichhorn develops advanced technologies to map and analyse ecosystems in 3D using high-resolution terrestrial laser scanning, with a particular focus on measuring leaf quantity and distribution. This research helps inform forest design and management strategies to achieve outcomes such as sustainable timber production, carbon storage, or habitat creation for conservation.

Within the Climate+ Co-Centre, Markus is the Principal Investigator on an Eli Lilly-funded project aimed at improving the management and conservation of semi-natural grasslands in Ireland, including implementing targeted mitigation actions to support biodiversity.
