What’s the Policy Response Unit?
The Policy Response Unit (PRU) is a part of the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water that provides governments with research and evidence to support effective responses to climate, biodiversity, and water-related challenges.
Its key strength is bringing together experts from different disciplines, countries, and institutions to deliver coordinated, large-scale research. By combining a wide range of knowledge and perspectives, the PRU can provide robust, evidence-based advice that would be difficult for any single researcher or organisation to deliver alone.
How Does It Work?
When governments need expert advice or evidence on issues related to climate, biodiversity or water, they often publish funding calls or contracts asking research organisations to help gather evidence on specific policy questions.
The PRU brings together researchers from across the Climate + Co-Centre’s network of universities, institutions and disciplines to work on the project. This means experts in different areas can collaborate to tackle complex problems that no single researcher or organisation could solve alone.
The PRU works closely with government departments, as well as local communities and other stakeholders, to make sure the research is useful, practical and connected to real-world needs.
The final outcome is clear, evidence-based advice and recommendations that governments can use to shape policy and respond to environmental and societal challenges.
