Policies and systems about climate and land use are important for creating a society that protects nature and supports people’s wellbeing.
How land is used across Ireland and Northern Ireland is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. It also affects biodiversity and water quality.
The aim of this project is to study how climate and land-use policies are changing across the island of Ireland. It will look at the risks caused by these differences and explore ways to reduce those risks.
Project Goals
-
Map regulatory and governance trends for climate, biodiversity and water on the island of Ireland. This will be based on desk research, interviews with relevant stakeholders and scenario analysis.
-
Identify regulatory and governance risks on the island of Ireland through scenario analysis and other methods
-
Chart potential solutions to regulatory and governance risks
-
Work with the other projects to ensure that research activities across the Climate + Co-Centre enable fair and equitable transitions in land use
